Father was a British subject

My father was born in New Brunswick in 1902 and moved to the US, married my mother and became a naturalized US citizen in 1942.  I was born in 1949.  I was told that since my father was naturalized prior to 1947 that he was a British subject and therefore I am not a Canadian citizen. Any ideas to assist me or have I reached a dead end?See More
