Perhaps of help to 2nd generation

My French grandmother's family in Canada goes back to the 1630s. My grandfather was First Nations, born outside of Winnipeg. My mother was born in Canada in 1911. Later she moved to the US and in 1930 married a US citizen. After I was born, she became a US citizen. In 2011, my application for my Canadian citizenship certificate was denied. I was told that my mother had lost her status as a British subject when she married my father. She not only was "never a Canadian citizen," but also was…

Donation to Lost Canadians

Hello Al,

Just received your note requesting donations, but was unable to reply to you using the email address from which it came. As you probably know, Don Chapman has been working for years to change the citizenship act to include all Lost Canadians. With the election having taken place, he now may pursue the matter through the courts. I need to direct my donations to Don's efforts.

All the best, Judith

CBC article about Harper's lack of women in appointments

http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2011/01/07/mckie-gender-equity.html?ref=rss

I know it's not a shock to this group that Harper's government doesn't believe women should be equal to men, but now it appears the CBC might be figuring it out.

When the war ended, he had the temerity to pack up and leave for his "other" home leaving my mother with a pail of dirty…

confusion about eligibility

My father was born in Canada in '17. moved to US for good in 34. I do not know when or if he became a US citizen but he did vote so I assume he did at some point. I was born in the mid 50's in the US. He died 6 months before new law passed. I have his birth certificate and war records of his father, my grandfather also Canada born who fought in ww1 for Canada overseas. My father married my US mom in '45. Am I eligible for citizenship?? Thank you :>
